With the support of 192,000 DKK from the Development Fund from the Agency for Culture and Palaces, Elsinore will lead the development of a new nationwide newsletter. The goal is to develop a new literary format that will inspire younger readers across the country to be interested in new talented authors.

In the new newsletter, selected authors will reflect on current events. The readers will experience a hybrid of fiction and the digital – where old formats meet new ones.

The selected authors are: Christina Hagen, Caspar Eric, Kristian Leth, Ida Holmegaard, Ursula Scavenius, Harald Voetmann, Hanne Højgaard Viemose, Halfdan Pisket, Caroline Albertine Minor, Dennis Gade Kofod, Ida Marie Hede & Amalie Smith

Catch – the Center for Art and Technology and the Libraries in the Municipality of Elsinore are behind the newsletter.

“The grant shows how well we work across institutions in the Municipality. Together we can be strong national players, “says Søren Mørk Petersen, Head of the Library.

Project leaders, Majken Overgaard, Catch, and Simon Brørup from the libraries, describe how current news media are characterized by fake news and various social media:

“Therefore, it’s important to work with news from a completely new angle and give voice to another way to develop and reflect on news,”

Furthermore, they believe that the newsletter is stagnated as a genre, and therefore wants to challenge it:

“The grant makes it possible to work with upcoming Danish writers in a different digital format, which makes it possible to disseminate broadly to many user groups and in more detail than for example on Twitter and Facebook.

The project will already be kicked off at the Click Festival the 19th – 20th of May 2018 where anyone interested can join and experience lectures on digital literature and the development of the newsletter as a genre.
